Day 1 total: 2,044
It’s been a while since I did one of these, and what a way to start the new year off! I’m noveling alongside a few others this time around: Ron Collins (my dad), Lisa Silverthorne, Sean Young, and Dean Smith. As usual, the goal is to write an entire novel to completion in one month.
The project this time for me is the first book of a new fantasy series, titled Feather Spell. It’s about a young woman who, alongside her bonded pair of owls, is searching for her friend who has disappeared into a forest that eats young men’s souls. Or something like that, anyway!
Today was a great start. I got a total of 2044 words, which saw me through chapter 1 (it was super short, surprisingly) and a good chunk through chapter 2. My outline has a total of 25 chapters as of now, though that always has the potential to change as I make my way through it.
I’m going to be updating my word count numbers as total manuscript number, not daily words written. That just feels best to me right now.
I’ve got a good feeling about this one.
